Help your Grade 5 learner prepare for the June examinations with this comprehensive ATP-aligned History practice test, complete with a full memorandum. The test is 30 marks and has a duration of 1 hour.
The test covers:
- San Beliefs & Religion – 4 marks: understanding San spiritual beliefs, the spirit world, shamans, trance experiences and Kaggen, as well as the role of the shaman in protecting and healing the community.
- San & Khoikhoi Lifestyles – 8 marks: comparing the San hunter-gatherers and Khoikhoi herders and farmers, including nomadic and settled lifestyles, livestock, crops, food sources and how both groups used their knowledge of the environment to survive.
- Early African Farmers & Settlements – 8 marks: agriculture, crops, domestic animals, homesteads and households, as well as interpreting a visual source of a traditional cattle kraal and settlement.
- South African Coat of Arms – 5 marks: interpreting the symbols of the South African Coat of Arms and understanding what features such as the rising sun, elephant tusks, wheat, secretary bird and human figuresrepresent.
- Tools & Key Historical Concepts – 5 marks: identifying the purpose of an early farming tool, comparing San and Khoikhoi lifestyles and explaining important terms such as overgrazing and barter.
