About this resource

Help your Grade 5 learner prepare for Term 1 Geography with this comprehensive ATP-aligned 30-mark practice test, complete with a full memorandum. The test has a duration of 45 minutes.

The test covers:

  • Africa & Important Geographical Features: the Equator, hemispheres, oceans, Sahara and Namib Deserts, Madagascar, Mount Kilimanjaro, major rivers and capital cities.
  • Physical Features of Africa: identifying and matching important features such as Victoria Falls, the Limpopo River, Sahara Desert, Lake Tanganyika, Mount Kenya and the Equator.
  • Compass Directions: identifying the eight compass points and using direction to locate places in Africa.
  • Map Skills: interpreting a physical map of Africa to locate rivers, mountains, deserts, lakes, waterfalls and islands, as well as identifying whether features are found in Northern or Southern Africa.
  • Height & Physical Landscape: identifying the highest peak in Southern Africa, the Atlas Mountains, and comparing the elevation of Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Question types include: true or false, fill-in-the-blanks, matching, compass work, map interpretation, short-answer and application questions.
